You can send money from Kenya to Gabon on mobile using international money transfer services like WorldRemit, Mukuru, and MoneyGram, and via partners of M-PESA Global. Recipients can receive funds in their local mobile money accounts (such as MTN MoMo or Airtel Money), for cash pickup, or as bank transfers.

Using M-PESA Global with Partners

You can use your M-PESA account to fund transfers through M-PESA’s international partners like Western Union, allowing the recipient to collect cash at a local agent location in Gabon.

Via the M-PESA App

  1. Open the M-PESA App and log in using your PIN.

  4. Choose the option for cash pickup and enter the recipient’s details (full name as it appears on their ID document, phone number).
  5. Enter the amount in KES. The app will display the exchange rate and total cost.
  6. Confirm the transaction with your M-PESA PIN.
  7. Share the resulting Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) with the recipient so they can collect the cash in Gabon.

Using Dedicated Money Transfer Apps

Third-party apps offer a direct way to manage the entire transfer process, including paying via debit/credit card or bank transfer from Kenya. These services support direct deposits to mobile wallets like MTN MoMo and Airtel Money in Gabon.

  • WorldRemit: Offers instant transfers to mobile money accounts, bank accounts, and cash pickup locations in Gabon. You can use the WorldRemit App and pay using a bank transfer, debit, or credit card.
  • Mukuru: Offers a reliable way to send money for instant cash collection at their partner locations in Gabon or directly to a mobile wallet via their app or website. You can use the Mukuru App to initiate a transfer.
  • Airtel Money: If you have an Airtel Money account, you can send money to other Airtel Money wallets across the region, which includes Gabon. Dial *185*1*4# and follow the prompts for international transfers.
  • SwyChr: An app built to integrate with major mobile money players in Gabon like MTN and Airtel, allowing recipients to receive funds directly into mobile wallets.

Recipients in Gabon generally receive funds in Central African CFA Francs (XAF) to their mobile wallets or via cash pickup. Comparing exchange rates and fees across different providers before sending is recommended.
