You can send money from Kenya to Cameroon on mobile using global money transfer apps like WorldRemit and Mukuru. Direct mobile money wallet transfers (like M-PESA to an MTN MoMo or Orange Money wallet) are possible through certain providers, or you can use M-PESA Global to send money via partners for cash pickup.
Using Dedicated Money Transfer Apps
Third-party apps facilitate direct transfers to mobile wallets and cash pickup locations in Cameroon.
- WorldRemit: Offers instant transfers to MTN MoMo and Orange Money accounts in Cameroon. You can use the WorldRemit App and pay using a bank transfer, debit, or credit card.
- Mukuru: Offers a reliable way to send money for instant cash collection at their partner locations in Cameroon or directly to a mobile wallet via their app or website.
- Airtel Money: If you have an Airtel Money account, you can send money to other countries in the Airtel network, which includes Cameroon. Dial *185*1*4# and follow the prompts for international transfers.
Using M-PESA Global with Partners
You can use your M-PESA account to fund transfers through M-PESA’s international partners, allowing the recipient to collect cash at a local agent location in Cameroon.
Via the M-PESA App or USSD
- Access the M-PESA Global service on the M-PESA App or by dialing *334#.
- Select a partner that serves Cameroon, such as Western Union or MoneyGram.
- Choose the option for cash pickup and enter the recipient’s details (full name as it appears on their ID document, phone number).
- Enter the amount in KES. The app will display the exchange rate and total cost.
- Confirm the transaction with your M-PESA PIN.
- Share the resulting Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) with the recipient so they can collect the cash in Cameroon.
Recipients in Cameroon generally receive funds in Central African CFA Francs (XAF) to their mobile wallets or via cash pickup.
