The match kicks off on June 20 at 01:00 EAT for fans in East Africa, which is June 19 at 6 p.m. ET in Boston. The fixture will be played at Boston Stadium, the tournament name for Gillette Stadium, with Uzbek referee Ilgiz Tantashev listed to take charge.

Scotland enter the match with three points after beating Haiti 1-0 in their opener. Morocco arrive with one point after a 1-1 draw with Brazil, a result that showed they remain one of the most dangerous sides in the group.

That makes this a high-pressure match for both teams. Scotland can move close to qualification with another win, while Morocco need to convert a strong opening performance into three points.

Scotland vs Morocco Match Details

Scotland and Morocco meet in Match 30 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The match comes at a major moment for Scotland, who are playing at their first World Cup since 1998. Their opening victory over Haiti was historic, giving the Tartan Army a first World Cup win in decades and putting Steve Clarke’s side in a strong position after one game.

Morocco, however, are a much tougher test. They reached the semifinals at the 2022 World Cup and showed their quality again by holding Brazil to a draw in their Group C opener.

The officiating team also adds an international mix to the match. Ilgiz Tantashev of Uzbekistan is the referee, while Jordan’s Adham Makhadmeh is listed as fourth official.

Group C Table Before Kickoff

Scotland sit near the top of Group C after their win over Haiti.

The 1-0 result was not dominant, but it was enough. John McGinn’s goal gave Scotland a valuable three points and changed the shape of their group-stage campaign.

Morocco and Brazil each have one point after their 1-1 draw. Haiti are bottom after losing to Scotland.

That means Scotland can take a major step toward the round of 32 with another positive result. A win would move them to six points and place them in a commanding position before facing Brazil.

Morocco cannot afford to let the group drift away. A draw would keep them alive, but a win would move them above Scotland and give them control of their own qualification push.

Scotland Need More Than Grit

Scotland’s win over Haiti gave them belief, but the performance also showed areas that need improvement.

They defended with commitment and found a way to win, which matters in tournament football. However, Morocco will punish loose passing and defensive gaps more ruthlessly than Haiti.

Scotland must be sharper in possession. If they give the ball away cheaply, Morocco have the speed and technical quality to turn transitions into clear chances.

The midfield battle will be critical. Scotland need energy, second-ball wins and quick support around the ball. They cannot allow Morocco to settle into rhythm or isolate defenders in wide areas.

Set pieces could also be a route to goal. Scotland have the physical profile to trouble Morocco from dead-ball situations, especially if open-play chances are limited.

Morocco Carry Serious Threat

Morocco’s draw with Brazil was one of the most impressive early results in Group C.

They did not simply survive against one of the tournament favorites. They competed with confidence, showed attacking quality and proved they can handle elite pressure.

Reuters reported that Morocco are viewed as favorites by many observers for this fixture after their performance against Brazil. Their blend of experience, athleticism and emerging talent makes them a difficult opponent for Scotland.

Ayyoub Bouaddi’s display against Brazil drew attention, while Morocco’s wider squad offers pace and creativity across midfield and attack.

Morocco’s challenge is efficiency. A draw with Brazil is useful, but they now need wins to turn admiration into progress. Against Scotland, they will likely try to dominate technical areas, stretch the pitch and create overloads in wide positions.

Key Battle: Scotland’s Shape vs Morocco’s Speed

This match may come down to how well Scotland defend the spaces outside and behind their midfield.

Morocco can move quickly from patient possession into direct attacks. If Scotland’s defensive line becomes stretched, Morocco’s runners can create danger.

Scotland will need compact spacing and disciplined pressing. They cannot chase the ball recklessly, because Morocco have the technique to play through pressure.

At the same time, Scotland must not sit too deep for too long. If they allow Morocco to control territory, the pressure could become constant.

The best route for Scotland may be controlled aggression. They need to disrupt Morocco’s buildup, win duels and use quick forward passes when space appears.

Boston Atmosphere Adds Another Storyline

The Tartan Army have already made a major impression in Boston.

Reuters reported that Scottish fans filled local bars after the Haiti win, with some venues needing emergency beer deliveries because of demand. Their presence has added color and energy to the city during the tournament.

Morocco will also have strong support in the region. Revere, Massachusetts, near Boston, is home to a large Moroccan community, and local celebrations are expected around the match.

That means Boston Stadium could feel intense, loud and divided. For Scotland, the atmosphere may provide an emotional lift. For Morocco, support from the local Moroccan community could help make the fixture feel less like an away game.

Prediction and What to Watch

Scotland have momentum and three points, but Morocco look like the stronger technical side.

The key question is whether Scotland can turn the game into a physical, disciplined contest rather than allowing Morocco to control the ball and attack in waves.

Morocco should create more chances, but Scotland’s structure and set-piece threat can keep them in the match.

Prediction: Scotland 1-2 Morocco.

A Scotland win would put them close to the knockout stage. A Morocco win would reshape Group C and confirm their status as one of the most dangerous teams outside the traditional favorites.

For Scotland vs Morocco, the stakes are clear: Scotland want a historic step toward qualification, while Morocco need a win to turn a strong start into real Group C control.
