Samsung Tri-Fold Smartphone Coming in 2025, President Confirms

Samsung’s long-rumored tri-fold smartphone is officially in the works—and it’s set to hit the market by the end of 2025. This was confirmed by Samsung Electronics President TM Roh, ending months of speculation after the device failed to appear at the company’s recent Unpacked event.

TM Roh Confirms Tri-Fold Device Is on the Way

Speaking after the Galaxy Z Fold7 launch on July 9, Roh stated that Samsung is currently focused on perfecting the product and its usability before release. While the company has not yet finalized the official name, it’s widely rumored that the tri-fold device could debut as the Galaxy G Fold—though that remains unconfirmed.

“We are working to ensure the device meets our highest usability standards before finalizing the name and launch date,” Roh said.

What to Expect from the Tri-Fold Phone Design

According to early leaks and reports, Samsung’s tri-fold design will likely fold inward, offering improved protection compared to outward-folding models like the Huawei Mate XT. This approach provides:

  • Two distinct displays: a large folding inner screen and an external cover display
  • Enhanced durability: the inner screen is protected when the phone is folded
  • Complex engineering: higher cost due to the added display and hinge components

The tri-fold format could revolutionize multitasking, turning a phone into a true tablet replacement by offering three-panel support when fully extended.

Price Expectations: Premium Tag Likely

Given that the Galaxy Z Fold7, which also launched this week, received a price hike over its predecessor, the tri-fold model is expected to cost even more. While exact pricing is still unknown, the device will likely target tech enthusiasts and power users willing to pay for bleeding-edge innovation.

Foldables have yet to reach mainstream affordability, and this tri-fold model may push pricing boundaries further rather than reduce them.

Final Thoughts

The confirmation from TM Roh cements Samsung’s intent to remain at the forefront of foldable innovation. With the tri-fold smartphone now officially on the roadmap, the tech world eagerly awaits more details on specs, name, and pricing.

If Samsung delivers on usability and durability, the Samsung tri-fold smartphone could redefine what’s possible in mobile computing—and give the company another head start in the premium foldables race.
