  • Must have a valid National ID or Passport (original and copy)

How to Register for PostBank Mobile Banking (Patacash)

Registration Steps (Safaricom Line Only):

  1. Dial *498#
  2. Read and accept the terms and conditions (available at www.postbank.co.ke)
  3. Dial *498# again
  4. Select Option 2: Register
  5. Provide:
    • ID Number or Birth Certificate Number
    • Date of Birth
    • PostBank Account Number
  6. You’ll receive a One-Time Password (OTP)
  7. Dial *498# again and input the OTP
  8. Set a 4-digit PIN
  9. Set up security questions by answering any 3 out of 5 prompts
  10. Confirm PIN entry
  11. You’ll receive a success message. Dial *498# again to start banking.

After successful login via *498#, users can:

Balance Enquiry:

  1. Dial *498# and login
  2. Go to Account Enquiries → Balance Enquiry
  3. Select your account → Confirm
  4. Balance will display on-screen and via SMS

Withdraw to M-PESA (Own Number):

  1. Dial *498# and login
  2. Go to Money Transfer → Send to M-PESA → My Number
  3. Choose account → Enter amount → Confirm
  4. Funds are transferred to your registered M-PESA line

Withdraw to M-PESA (Another Number):

  1. Dial *498# and login
  2. Go to Money Transfer → Send to M-PESA → Other Number
  3. Enter M-PESA number → Enter amount → Confirm
  4. Transfer completes instantly

Deposit from M-PESA:

  1. Dial *498# and login
  2. Go to Money Transfer → Deposit from M-PESA
  3. Choose account → Enter amount → Confirm
  4. M-PESA pop-up appears → Enter M-PESA PIN
  5. You’ll receive SMS confirmation
