Nigerian woman, Oyindamola Akinyera, experienced an unforgettable journey aboard Qatar Airways as she delivered a healthy baby girl while flying from Lagos, Nigeria, to Brazil. Alongside her husband, David, she had received medical clearance to travel but began experiencing complications after boarding the connecting flight in Doha.
In a social media post, Akinyera shared how the Qatar Airways crew provided her with exceptional care, initially treating her like a ‘princess’ and laying out a bed for her to rest. However, as discomfort in her lower back persisted, she asked the flight attendants to check her vitals. Despite everything appearing normal, the situation escalated as the plane crossed the Atlantic.

Realizing she was in labor, Akinyera headed to the restroom with her husband, only to discover her water had broken. The cabin crew, with the help of a fellow passenger who was a doctor, quickly set up a birthing station near the plane’s entrance.
Akinyera described how the contractions intensified as the flight neared Brazilian airspace. Her husband, praying by her side, supported her through the process. Just twenty minutes before landing, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, with the crew acting as her midwives.
Upon landing in Brazil, mother and baby were taken directly to the hospital, where they were both reported to be doing well. Akinyera expressed immense gratitude, stating that the experience was a testament to God’s intervention and the incredible support from the Qatar Airways crew.
