Follow these steps to easily lock and unlock your Bank of America charge card using their mobile app:
Locking Your Card
- Open the App:
- Locate the Bank of America app on your device. The icon is red with a cross-hatched white flag symbol (or red flag symbol with no red background on Android phones).
- Sign into the App:
- Enter your login ID and Passcode, then tap “Sign In”. If you have TouchID set up, you can use that for easier access.
- Tap the “Menu” Tab:
- The “Menu” tab is in the lower right corner, represented by three horizontal dots and labeled “Menu”.
- Choose “Manage Debit Card Settings”:
- This option is located between “Alerts” and “BankAmeriDeals”.
- Select the Card to Lock:
- If you have multiple cards, select the appropriate card by switching between them if necessary. Verify that the card matches by checking the last four digits and the name on the card.
- Tap the “Lock Your Card” Switch:
- You’ll find this below your virtual card. This action will bring up the lock options for the selected card.
- Review the Restrictions:
- Read through the page confirming the restrictions and types of transactions that will still go through even when the card is locked.
- Tap the Green “Lock Card” Switch:
- Confirm your action by tapping the green switch labeled “Lock Card”. This will lock your card until you decide to unlock it.
Unlocking Your Card
- Open the App and Sign In:
- As previously described, open the app and sign in with your credentials.
- Navigate to “Manage Debit Card Settings”:
- Go through the “Menu” tab to find the “Manage Debit Card Settings” option.
- Select the Locked Card:
- Choose the card that you have previously locked.
- Tap the Green Switch to Unlock:
- Toggle the green switch next to the “Lock your card” label. Wait for the confirmation message “Your card is unlocked and ready to use” to appear.
