Students who received a grade of D- (minus) on their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or below can apply to the artisan program, which would provide them with the necessary skills to enter the workforce, for the vocation of their choosing.
Students can apply for the courses before the deadline expires using the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) portal.
Students can submit their applications for the 2024 KUCCPS till February 26, 2024.
Students are given the opportunity to apply for the course in accordance with their KCSE test grade. D- and lower-scoring students can enroll in artisan courses.
The most costly course, given by Kenya Industrial Training Institute and costing Ksh83,500, is Trade Test Grade II & I in Electrical Wireman, according to a spot-check by nyongesasande.
The Railway Training Institute’s Food and Beverage Production (Culinary Arts) Level 4 course, which costs, on average, Ksh72,900, comes next.
With a few exceptions, the average cost of the courses was Ksh67,189. At Ksh45,700, the Railway Training Institute’s Grade III Electrical Installation course is the least expensive course available in the Artisan program.
This is comparable to the same institution’s NVCET in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Students who complete the program will be trained to design, implement, and maintain building cooling systems.
The Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology is offering Grade III in Pipe Fitting and Plumbing to students who want to advance their plumbing knowledge for Ksh49,420.
Furthermore, Ksh49,420 will be needed from anyone wishing to study cooling system installation at the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology.
The Kenya Water Institute offers the Artisan in Sewerage Operators Course for students who want to specialize in wastewater technology, water supply, or water reading. They will have to give up Ksh 56,000.
In a similar vein, the Kenya Water Institute’s Water Operators course costs Ksh56,000. The Water Supply Operators program is also available at the same university for a set fee of Ksh 56,000.
