KCB Sack Patrick Odhiambo Following Decline in FKF Premier League Performance
KCB FC has officially parted ways with head coach Patrick Odhiambo, just days after Gor Mahia axed Sinisa Mihic, marking another coaching casualty in the final stretch of the 2024/2025 FKF Premier League season.
The decision, announced on Friday, May 23, comes after a disappointing second half of the campaign, which has seen the Ruaraka-based club plummet to ninth place despite leading the standings during the first leg.
More Departures from KCB Technical Bench
Odhiambo wasn’t the only one relieved of duties. According to Citizen Digital, assistant coach Jeffer Odongo and fitness trainer Eric Muranda were also shown the door.
Goalkeeping coach Samuel Koko Okoth has been appointed interim coach for the last two games of the season.
“We want to inject fresh impetus into the team to finish strong and prepare for the next season,” said KCB Chairman Bramwel Simiyu.
KCB’s Ambitions and Odhiambo’s Short Stint
Odhiambo was appointed in July 2024 on a one-year deal, replacing Bernard Mwalala. While the team showed early promise, topping the table in the first leg, a dip in form has left them with no silverware hopes and nothing left to fight for this season.
“KCB Football remains a crucial part of our sporting platform,” added Simiyu. “We are taking stock and restructuring to meet our long-term ambition to win the league.”
Final Fixtures and Coaching Transition
Okoth’s first game as interim coach is set for June 10 against Nairobi City Stars, followed by a season finale against AFC Leopards on June 15.
The dismissal of Odhiambo mirrors Gor Mahia’s recent decision to sack Serbian coach Mihic, reflecting mounting pressure among top clubs to re-evaluate leadership as the FKF season concludes.
