Kenyan politician James Omingo Magara was born on September 20, 1961. He is a member of the Jubilee Party and served as the Member of Parliament for the South Mugirango Constituency in Kenya’s National Assembly from 2000 to 2009. First, he was elected on the Ford-Kenya platform in the 2001 by-elections, taking the seat from his brother Enoch Nyakieya Magara, who had perished in an automobile accident. In the elections of 2002, he kept his position, although he was now representing Ford-People. In the elections of 2007, he stood in for ODM.
Prior to the High Court of Kenya declaring the South Mugirango parliamentary seat vacant in December 2009 because of anomalies in the electoral process—despite Magara’s innocence—he served as the assistant minister of commerce.
Afterwards In June 2010, there was a by-election in South Mugirango. Following his rejection of the ODM candidacy, Magara switched to the obscure People’s Democratic Party (PDP), perhaps due to his lack of favor with party leader Raila Odinga. Manson Nyamweya of Ford-People defeated Magara and Ibrahim Ochoi of ODM to win the by-election. Omingo Magara ran for the Kisii Senatorial seat in 2013 and finished third in the very competitive race, behind Chris Obure.
