Early iPhone 17 Geekbench scores have surfaced, offering the first benchmark look at Apple’s A19 and A19 Pro chips powering the new iPhone 17 lineup. While CPU performance gains remain modest, GPU improvements are far more noticeable across the series.
The base iPhone 17 (model 18,3), equipped with the A19 chip and 8GB of LPDDR5x RAM, achieved a single-core score of 3,608 and a multi-core result of 8,810. That translates to a 10% improvement in single-core and an 11% bump in multi-core compared to last year’s A18 chip. On the graphics side, the device posted a 37,014 Metal score, representing a 33% jump over the iPhone 16.
The iPhone Air (model 18,4) carries a binned version of the A19 Pro with a six-core CPU and a five-core GPU, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM. It managed 3,674 single-core and 8,824 multi-core scores. Its GPU score reached 37,743 in the Metal test, just slightly ahead of the vanilla iPhone but below the Pro models due to the reduced GPU core count.
The iPhone 17 Pro (model 18,1) delivered a single-core score of 3,523 and a multi-core result of 9,028, backed by 12GB of RAM. Its GPU score hit 44,342 in the Metal benchmark, about 17% higher than the Air and 32% stronger than the iPhone 16 Pro.
At the top of the lineup, the iPhone 17 Pro Max (model 18,2) posted the highest numbers: 3,781 single-core and 9,679 multi-core. Its Metal GPU score soared to 45,657, almost a 40% improvement over the iPhone 16 Pro Max, making it the standout performer in the series.
Overall, the iPhone 17 Geekbench scores show only minor CPU improvements across the A19 lineup, with single-core and multi-core gains hovering around 10%. However, GPU performance has taken a major leap, especially for the Pro and Pro Max models, cementing Apple’s focus on graphics-heavy tasks like gaming, creative apps, and AI-powered features.
