Imarika Sacco has grown into one of the most influential savings and credit cooperatives in Kenya’s coastal region. Originally known as Malindi Teachers Sacco and later Kilifi Teachers Sacco, the institution rebranded to reflect its expanded membership and long-term vision.
Today, Imarika Sacco serves over 38,000 members across Kenya and even in the Diaspora. The name “Imarika,” meaning “become stable” in Kiswahili, reflects its promise to offer stability, financial security and steady growth to its members.

Imarika Sacco has operated for nearly five decades. Over the years, it transitioned from a teacher-based SACCO to a broad-based cooperative serving professionals, entrepreneurs and individuals from different sectors.
The Sacco’s expansion strategy focuses on bringing services closer to members. Currently, it operates five fully operational branches and one service center in Bamba-Ganze. A Garsen branch is underway as part of its expansion plan.
