Step 1: Prepare Required Documents

To apply for a TIN, you need:

  • A completed application form
    🔗 Download TIN Application Form – Individual (PDF)
  • Valid proof of identity (any one of the following):
    • Passport
    • Driver’s License
    • Birth Certificate

Make sure your ID matches the name and birth details you provide on the form.

Step 2: Complete the Application Form

You must fill in the following details:

  • Full legal name
  • District of birth (if born in Timor-Leste)
  • Residential address (no P.O. boxes)
  • Residency status
  • Sources of income (e.g. salary, business, freelance)
  • Taxpayer declaration (must be signed and accurate)

Submit your application in person at any National Directorate of Domestic Revenue (NDDR) or Petroleum Revenue (NDPR) office.

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply for a TIN if:

  • You are an individual receiving income in Timor-Leste
  • You are an employee or employer
  • You are a Timorese resident or foreigner with legal residence
  • You are over 17 years of age

📌 Employers must ensure employees have a TIN for proper tax deduction.


Fees

There is no application fee for obtaining a TIN for individuals. However, this may vary depending on additional services or document processing.


Validity

  • The TIN is valid indefinitely unless canceled or replaced
  • Any change in legal name, residency, or status must be reported to NDDR

Processing Time

TINs are generally issued within a few business days upon successful application and document verification.
