Your Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) report is a key reflection of your financial health. It shows how you repay loans, credit card balances, or digital lending facilities. Banks and mobile lenders rely on CRB reports to decide whether you qualify for new credit.
Thanks to Safaricom’s partnership with Creditinfo, Kenyans can now check their CRB status directly through the M-PESA App without visiting a bureau or using third-party platforms.
Below is a simple step-by-step guide to help you access your credit information easily and securely.
Step 1: Download and Set Up the M-PESA App
- Go to Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iPhone).
- Search for M-PESA App and download it.
- Open the app and turn on mobile data with your Safaricom SIM inserted.
- Tap Sign In on the welcome screen.
- Accept the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
- Confirm your mobile number and name.
- Enter your M-PESA PIN when prompted.
- Complete setup and, for extra security, enable biometric authentication (fingerprint or face ID).
Step 2: Navigate to “My Credit Report”
After logging in, the app displays four main tabs at the bottom: Home, Transact, Services, and Grow.
- Tap the Services tab.
- Scroll down and select My Credit Report.
- Opt in to activate the service.
- Verify your identity using your M-PESA PIN or biometrics.
Step 3: Select the Service You Need

- Document History – to review previous reports.
To confirm your CRB standing, choose CRB Report.
Step 4: Make Payment
You’ll be prompted to pay KSh 100 through M-PESA. Confirm and complete the payment within the app to proceed.
Step 5: View Your CRB Report
After successful payment, your detailed report will load instantly on the screen. It includes:
- Creditinfo Score and Risk Rating
- Total Number of Active Loans and Lenders
- Credit Accounts History
- Outstanding Balances and Arrears (if any)
The report provides a clear picture of your current credit health, helping you make informed financial decisions.
Why Checking Your CRB Status Matters
Regularly reviewing your CRB report allows you to:
