Samsung has started rolling out a major software upgrade for its 2023 smartwatch lineup. The new Galaxy Watch6 update brings One UI 8 Watch and Google’s Wear OS 6 to both the Galaxy Watch6 and the Watch6 Classic. The rollout began in Korea, with more regions expected to follow soon. The package arrives with build number CYK2 and marks one of the most significant updates these models have received since launch.
One UI 8 Watch introduces a redesigned interface that aligns the older watches with the experience offered on Samsung’s latest wearables. The update includes visual refinements, improved health tracking features, and smoother system performance. Samsung shared that the update will arrive in additional markets over the coming days, provided no issues are detected during the initial release phase.
This update allows the Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic to catch up with the Watch7 lineup and the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which received One UI 8 Watch earlier in the year. Samsung’s newer Galaxy Watch8 models shipped with the software already installed, making today’s rollout an important step in keeping older hardware aligned with the brand’s evolving ecosystem.
Users who want to check for the update can do so through the Galaxy Wearable app. Navigating to Watch settings, then Watch software update, and selecting Download and install will trigger the process. Because of the update’s size and feature set, users may want to ensure their watches are connected to Wi-Fi and have adequate battery life.
As Samsung continues its wider deployment, Galaxy Watch6 owners can expect a more polished interface, better animations, and several quality-of-life improvements. This rollout keeps the Watch6 series relevant as Samsung transitions to newer hardware powered by Wear OS 6 and the latest version of One UI Watch.
