DJI has just raised the bar with the release of the DJI Mini 5 Pro, a sub-250g drone that packs a massive upgrade in terms of camera quality and flight capabilities. This new iteration of the popular Mini series combines compactness with advanced imaging technology, making it an ideal choice for both casual and professional drone enthusiasts. The Mini 5 Pro is designed to offer superior image quality and impressive flight features without the regulatory restrictions tied to heavier drones.

Key Features of the DJI Mini 5 Pro:
- 1” 50MP Sensor: The Mini 5 Pro comes equipped with a powerful 50MP 1” sensor, offering superior image quality compared to its predecessor, the Mini 4 Pro, which featured a 1/1.3” sensor. This high-resolution sensor captures 14 stops of dynamic range and supports 10-bit D-Log M format for professional-grade video editing. The drone can also shoot 4K 120fps slow-motion video, providing extra flexibility for creative content.
- Camera Gimbal with 225° Rotation: One of the standout features borrowed from the Mavic series is the camera gimbal’s ability to rotate up to 225°. This allows users to capture dynamic shots like Dutch angles and portrait video, ideal for sharing on social media.
- LiDAR for Obstacle Avoidance: With forward-facing LiDAR, the Mini 5 Pro boasts improved obstacle avoidance, especially in low-light conditions. The LiDAR also allows the drone to remember its flight path, returning to its user even if it loses GPS signal, thanks to the dual-band GNSS support (L1 + L5).
- Upgraded Flight Performance: The Mini 5 Pro is designed to fly faster, longer, and more efficiently. With the new DJI O4+ video transmission system, the range extends to 20km. The larger 2,788mAh battery offers up to 36 minutes of flight time (compared to 34 minutes on the Mini 4 Pro). Additionally, the Flight Battery Plus (4,680mAh) allows for 52 minutes of flight time, though it pushes the drone’s weight over 250g and is not available in Europe.
- Improved ActiveTrack 360°: The drone’s ActiveTrack 360° feature now includes a cycling mode, enabling it to track moving subjects with greater accuracy and smoothness.
- Speed and Ascension: The Mini 5 Pro reaches 18m/s (65km/h) horizontally with the regular battery, up from 16m/s (58km/h), and its ascent speed has doubled to 10m/s.
