Before setting off, ensure you have the following:

  • Passport
  • Valid visas for both Saudi Arabia and the UAE

  • Driving license

  • Saudi Arabia Visa: Qatari citizens are exempt, but others can apply online or at the Tasheer visa centre in Ezdan Mall, Gharaffa.

  • Exiting the UAE: Pay an exit fee of QR 29.68 at the booth, pass through passport control and customs, and proceed to Saudi Arabia and then to Qatar.
  • Road Options: The Al Uqayr-Salwa coastal road offers a quick return route to Qatar.

  • Journey Duration: Expect an 8 to 10-hour drive, varying with border procedures.
  • Speed Limits: Observe local speed limits, with 160 km/h from Al Ghuwaifat Port to Abu Dhabi and 140 km/h onwards to Dubai.
