ChatGPT’s Image Generation Feature Now Available for Free Users

OpenAI has expanded access to its popular ChatGPT image generation feature, officially making it available to users on the free tier. Initially launched for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team subscribers, the feature went viral last week with its Studio Ghibli-style images, leading to over 1 million new users in just one hour.

As confirmed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on X.com, free-tier users can now generate up to three images per day using GPT-4o’s enhanced image capabilities. Once this limit is reached, users are prompted to consider upgrading to a paid plan for more access.

Despite the limitation, this move significantly widens access to one of the platform’s most in-demand creative features.

In related news, OpenAI has raised an additional $40 billion, led by SoftBank, bringing its valuation to $300 billion.

OpenAI also revealed it now supports over 500 million weekly users, reinforcing its status as one of the fastest-growing AI platforms in the world.
