Early Life

Born December 30, 1978, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Andrea Tantaros was raised in a politically and culturally diverse household. Her father was a Greek immigrant, while her mother was of Italian descent. She attended Parkland High School, where she worked at her family’s diner, the Pied Piper Diner.

Tantaros pursued higher education at Lehigh University, majoring in French and journalism. She later interned at CNN, where she worked on the “Crossfire” program, covering the Republican National Convention. Seeking further education, she enrolled at the Sorbonne in Paris, France, earning a master’s degree before returning to the U.S. in 2003.

Career

Andrea Tantaros started her career in political communications, serving as a spokeswoman for:

  • Massachusetts Governor William Weld
  • Congressman Pat Toomey (later U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania)
  • Former National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Thomas Reynolds

Fox News Career

In 2010, Tantaros joined Fox News Channel as a political commentator. A year later, she became a co-host of “The Five”, a new talk show that quickly became one of Fox News’ highest-rated programs. By 2013, “The Five” was the second most-watched cable news program.

In 2014, she was reassigned to “Outnumbered”, another Fox News program. While on the show, she made controversial statements defending CIA torture tactics, accusing the Obama administration of attempting to damage the U.S.’s reputation.

Fox News Lawsuit & Sexual Harassment Allegations

In August 2016, Andrea Tantaros sued Fox News executives, claiming she had reported being sexually harassed by:

  • Roger Ailes (former Fox News Chairman)
  • Bill O’Reilly (former Fox News host)
  • Dean Cain (actor)
  • Scott Brown (former U.S. Senator)

She alleged that her removal from “The Five” was an act of retaliation for filing complaints about workplace harassment. However, Fox News countered her claims, stating she was removed due to a contract dispute.

In 2017, a judge ruled that her lawsuit must go through arbitration per her employment contract.

Legal Battles Against Fox News

Despite setbacks, Tantaros continued her legal fight against Fox News, amending her lawsuit in 2018 to include allegations that the network promoted a culture of harassment and spied on employees. She claimed that:

  • Her computer had been hacked with malware.
  • Female employees were required to undress in an open room to try on wardrobe samples.

In 2019, she attempted to block the arbitration clause in her contract, citing New York laws that prohibit arbitration in sexual harassment cases. However, she struggled to find legal representation as law firms feared taking on Fox News.

By 2021, she secured a new law firm and continued challenging Fox’s motions to dismiss her case. At one point, she considered representing herself in court.

Fox News’ Broader Scandals

Beyond Tantaros’ case, Fox News faced multiple discrimination and sexual harassment lawsuits. In 2018, the network paid $10 million to settle claims with 18 former employees. Additionally, ex-Fox News host Gretchen Carlson filed her own harassment lawsuit, which contributed to the resignation of Roger Ailes.

Book & Publications

In 2016, Tantaros released her book:

  • “Tied Up in Knots: How Getting What We Wanted Made Women Miserable”

Fox News claimed she violated her contract by failing to get network approval for the book. Additionally, she was sued by Michael Malice, who claimed he ghostwrote the book but was never fully compensated. Malice lost the lawsuit.

Personal Life

Andrea Tantaros has kept her personal life largely private. However, she was romantically linked to:

  • Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction guitarist) in 2015
  • A British rugby player

She is multilingual, speaking English, French, Spanish, and Greek.

Legacy & Impact

Despite her career challenges, Andrea Tantaros remains a prominent figure in political commentary and media. Her legal battles with Fox News contributed to wider discussions on sexual harassment in corporate America. While her return to mainstream media remains uncertain, her influence on political discourse endures.

Summary of Andrea Tantaros’ Financials

  • Net Worth: $3.5 million
  • Fox News Salary (Peak): $800,000 per year
  • Major Income Sources: TV commentary, book sales, political consulting
  • Notable Legal Battles: Multiple lawsuits against Fox News
  • Business Ventures: Founder of Andrea Tantaros Media

Tantaros’ financial status is a reflection of both her media career success and the legal challenges that shaped her public image.
