Vivo V50 Series: Expected Features and Launch Details

The Vivo V50 series is generating anticipation ahead of its launch, scheduled for later this month.

  • Camera Capabilities
  • Performance and Hardware
  • Connectivity & Security
  • Market Availability & Pricing

Although official specifications are yet to be confirmed, various leaks and reports provide a glimpse of what the Vivo V50 may offer. The series is expected to cater to users seeking a balanced smartphone with strong display quality, reliable performance, and a versatile camera setup in the mid-range segment.

Display and Design

The Vivo V50 is rumored to feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1260 x 2800 pixels (FHD+) and a 120Hz refresh rate. If accurate, this would deliver vivid colors and smooth scrolling for media consumption and gaming.

Teasers suggest a flat display design with slim bezels and a centrally positioned punch-hole cutout for the front camera, following current design trends.

Camera Capabilities

The Vivo V50 is expected to sport a triple-camera system, with a 50 MP primary sensor as the centerpiece. Supporting cameras might include:

  • 50MP ultra-wide sensor
  • 2MP macro lens for additional shooting options

For selfies, the front camera could be a 16 MP sensor. While the exact camera configuration remains unconfirmed, Vivo’s focus on photography suggests AI-based features for enhanced image processing.

Performance and Hardware

Speculation indicates that the Vivo V50 could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, delivering mid-range performance suitable for daily tasks and casual gaming.

Memory Options:

  • 8GB to 12GB RAM
  • 128GB or 256GB internal storage
  • No indication of expandable storage via a microSD card

Battery & Charging:

  • 6000 mAh battery capacity
  • 90W fast charging support
  • Quick top-ups ensuring minimal downtime for users

Battery longevity and real-world charging times will be key aspects to watch for at the launch.

Connectivity & Security

Connectivity features may include:

  • 5G
  • Wi-Fi 6
  • Bluetooth 5.2
  • NFC
  • GPS
  • USB-C port

Security features are expected to include an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.

Market Availability & Pricing

We expect the Vivo V50 lineup to also launch in the Kenyan market in the coming months following the launches of the Vivo V40 series late last year.

Despite no confirmation on price, it is fair to expect the series to sell at midrange prices once it hits Kenyan shelves.
