If you plan to visit Vietnam, you may need a visa unless you are from a visa-exempt country. Vietnam offers multiple visa types to cater to various purposes, including tourism, business, and long-term residence.


Do I Need a Visa for Vietnam?

Visa-Free Countries:

  1. Up to 90 Days: Chile
  2. Up to 30 Days: Cambodia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand
  3. Up to 21 Days: Philippines
  4. Up to 15 Days: Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom
  5. Up to 14 Days: Brunei, Myanmar
  6. Re-entry Rule: Citizens of countries eligible for 15-day visa-free entry must wait 30 days between visits.

Types of Vietnam Visas

  2. Business Visa (DN): Short-term for business activities.
  3. Work Visa (DN/LD): For employment or business-related stays.
  4. Student/Internship Visa (DH): For study or internships.

Vietnam Visa Application Methods

  1. Apply Online (eVisa):

    • Steps:
      1. Visit the Vietnam eVisa Portal.
      2. Submit a scanned passport and a passport-size photo.
      3. Pay a $25 fee.
      4. Receive the visa via email within three working days.
      5. Print and carry the visa when traveling.
  2. Visa On Arrival (VOA):
    • Available at major international airports (e.g., Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Danang).
    • Requires a pre-approval letter:
      • Obtain through a travel agency or visa service.
      • Pay an agency service fee online.
    • At the airport:
      1. Present the letter, passport, and passport-size photos.
      2. Pay the stamping fee: $25 (single entry) or $50 (multiple entries).
      3. Get the visa stamped on arrival.
  3. Apply at a Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate:
    • Suitable for those not eligible for eVisa or VOA.
    • Steps:
      1. Contact the Embassy/Consulate.
