The University of Kisubi (UniK) is a private co-educational university in Uganda, located along the Kampala–Entebbe road. Established in 2004 by the Brothers of Christian Instruction as a center of Uganda Martyrs University, UniK has grown into an independent institution dedicated to providing holistic education.
Location
The main campus of the University of Kisubi is strategically positioned in Kisubi, Wakiso District, about 18 km from Entebbe International Airport and 35 km south of Kampala, Uganda’s capital. This makes the institution easily accessible to both local and international students. The suburban setting provides a quiet academic environment, while still being close to major cities and key infrastructure.
History
The institution was first founded in 2004 as a learning center under Uganda Martyrs University (UMU). In 2009, it was elevated to the status of a constituent college of UMU, further solidifying its academic foundation. By 2015, UniK received provisional accreditation from the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) to operate as a fully independent university.
Since its independence, UniK has focused on building capacity in business, education, health sciences, and social sciences, aligning with Uganda’s demand for professionals in key development sectors. The university held its third graduation ceremony in 2018, a milestone that showcased its growth in academic influence.
