Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) is a professional football club based in Kampala, Uganda. Established in 1997, the club represents the Uganda Revenue Authority and competes in the Uganda Premier League. URA FC is one of the most consistent sides in Ugandan football, having never finished in the bottom half of the league since their promotion.
The team plays its home games at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, which has a capacity of 15,000. The club is chaired by James Kiiza and coached by Alex Isabirye.
URA FC has won the Ugandan Premier League four times and lifted the Uganda Cup three times, establishing itself among the elite clubs in Uganda. The club has also participated in CAF competitions seven times, carrying Uganda’s flag on the continental stage.
History
URA FC was formed in 1997 and later merged with Lyantonde FC in 2002. At the time, Lyantonde, who had been Uganda Cup finalists in 2000, could not raise enough funds to continue competing. URA took over their place in the Buganda Super mini-league, ensuring a path into top-flight football.
The club earned promotion to the Ugandan Premier League in 2002 and quickly rose to prominence. URA won its first league title in 2006, marking the start of its dominance in Ugandan football.
Stadium
URA FC has used several home grounds over the years:
- Mehta Stadium (Lugazi): Primary home ground between 2011 and 2017.
- Mandela National Stadium (Namboole): Used from 2019 to 2020.
- Nakisunga Saza Grounds (Mukono): Occasionally hosted matches.
- Arena of Visions (Ndejje University): Temporary home with a 40,000-seat capacity.
- Hamz Stadium (Nakivubo): Current home ground with 15,000 capacity.
