Review of Samsung Galaxy A15 5G

Galaxy A15

The most recent Galaxy A15 is in line to come in 4G and 5G variants, as is customary with entry-level Galaxy phones. Though it can connect to 5G networks, the new Samsung Galaxy A15 5G is a precise replica of the Galaxy A15 4G.The same 6.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution and 90Hz refresh rate is used in the Galaxy A15 5G. The three cameras on the back are the same: a 2MP macro, a 5MP ultrawide, and a 50MP main. Even the 13MP selfie camera, which can capture 1080p video, is still in use.

An same 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging capabilities powers the 5G variant.

Between the Galaxy A15 4G and the Galaxy A15 5G, the chipset is the only difference: Dimensity 6100+ 5G vs. Helio G99. Additionally, it is limited to the modem; the CPU, GPU, and storage choices are all still present.

With support for Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, and the nearly obsolete 3.5mm socket and microSD card, the Galaxy A15 5G is a well-connected phone.

Specs of the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G in brief:

  • Body: 160.1×76.8×8.4mm, 200g; Glass front, plastic back, plastic frame.
  • Display: 6.50″ Super AMOLED, 90Hz, 800 nits (HBM), 1080x2340px resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 396ppi.
  • Chipset: Mediatek Dimensity 6100+ (6 nm): Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55); Mali-G57 MC2.
  • Memory: 128GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM; microSDXC (uses shared SIM slot).
  • OS/Software: Android 14, One UI 6.
  • Rear camera: Wide (main): 50 MP, f/1.8, AF; Ultra wide angle: 5 MP, f/2.2; Macro: 2 MP, f/2.4.
  • Front camera: 13 MP, f/2.0, (wide).
  • Video capture: Rear camera: 1080p@30fps; Front camera: 1080p@30fps.
  • Battery: 5000mAh; 25W wired.
  • Connectivity: 5G; Hybrid Dual SIM; Wi-Fi 5; BT 5.3; NFC; 3.5mm jack.
  • Misc: Fingerprint reader (side-mounted); Virtual proximity sensing.

The only feature we wish was included is splash resistance. Such basic ingress protection is available on many other comparably priced phones like Xiaomi and Motorola, and the Galaxy A1x is deserving of the same attention.

The phone and a 3A-rated USB-C cable are both included in the slender white box that the Galaxy A15 5G comes in.
