Peterson Githinji’s life took a dramatic turn following a casual reunion with his high school ex-girlfriend, leading to a life sentence at GK Prison in Nyeri. Githinji, a chairman of the Boda Boda association in Nyeri and a father dedicated to his family, recounted his ordeal on Inooro TV, stating he never imagined that reconnecting with an old flame could result in his downfall.
In 2020, while working as a tout in Karatina, Githinji ran into his ex-girlfriend. After several rides and a rekindled friendship, she expressed a desire to reestablish their relationship, which Githinji declined due to his commitment to his family. This rejection led to a chilling threat from his ex-girlfriend, who warned him of impending regret.
Shortly after, Githinji found himself ensnared in a legal nightmare when he was accused of holding his ex-girlfriend’s children hostage and committing indecent acts against them. Despite his protests of innocence and logical reasoning that he would not return to a scene if he had malicious intent, he was arrested. During the trial, convoluted and questionable testimony from the children played a key role in securing a conviction for life imprisonment. Githinji, asserting his innocence, is now appealing for public support to overturn what he views as an unjust verdict spurred by vengeance and manipulation.
