Pepsi University Football League: A Thrilling Kickoff at Hamz Stadium

Pepsi University Football League: A Thrilling Kickoff at Hamz Stadium

The highly awaited Pepsi University Football League kicks off tomorrow at the state-of-the-art Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo. This exciting season promises high-octane football action with a double-header to set the tone. Students can enjoy free entry, encouraging massive attendance for the opening games.

At 3:00 PM, two-time champions Kampala University will face Uganda Martyrs University (UMU), the defending champions, in what is expected to be an intense contest. The match will feature a clash of titans, as both teams have consistently been top contenders in the league. Following that, UMU will go head-to-head with Nkozi University, which has been gearing up for a competitive season.

Next, at 5:00 PM, 2018 champions Kyambogo University will take on ISBAT University in another exciting fixture. The teams will be looking to make a strong statement early in the tournament, adding to the day’s drama.

The 2025 edition introduces a revamped tournament format, where each team will only meet once during the group stages, with matches held either at home or away. The top teams from each group will automatically qualify for the quarterfinals, with three best runners-up securing their spots as well.

New entrants for this season include Mountain of the Moon University, Censor University, Soroti University, and Lira University, each bringing fresh energy and an eagerness to make an impact on the competition.

Here are the opening fixtures for the Pepsi University Football League:

  • Kampala University vs Uganda Martyrs University (Nkozi): Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo – 3:00 PM (Group A)
  • ISBAT University vs Kyambogo University: Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo – 5:00 PM (Group C)
  • Uganda Christian University Mukono vs Ndejje University: Mukono – 3:00 PM (Group E)
  • University of Kisubi vs Mountain of the Moon University: Entebbe – 3:00 PM (Group A)
  • Kampala International University vs Mbarara University of Science and Technology: Nsambya – 3:00 PM (Group A)
  • YMCA vs Nkumba University: Buwambo – 3:00 PM (Group C)
