Michael Dapaah, born on August 10, 1991, in Croydon, South London, is a dynamic British actor, rapper, and comedian celebrated for his character Big Shaq, also known as Roadman Shaq. Born to first-generation Ghanaian immigrants, Dapaah was urged by his parents to pursue a career in medicine, but his passion lay in the performing arts. His childhood included a significant time in South Africa and a brief stint in prison.
Dapaah’s educational journey in the arts included studying film, acting, and theatre at Brunel University, alongside training at the National Youth Theatre. His early career saw him contributing comedic roles to various shows, notably “Meet the Adebanjos,” which centers around a Nigerian family in London.

In May 2017, Dapaah, in collaboration with Marv Brown, a fellow Brunel graduate, launched the mockumentary series “SWIL (Somewhere in London)” on YouTube, capturing over a million views in its first series. The series was pivotal in developing his characters MC Quakez and Big Shaq.
The character of Big Shaq became a viral sensation following Dapaah’s appearance on Charlie Sloth’s BBC Radio 1Xtra show “Fire in the Booth,” where he performed the comedic rap “Man’s Not Hot.” The track, released as a single, turned into a cultural phenomenon, complete with a music video featuring celebrity cameos such as DJ Khaled, who dubbed Dapaah’s character a “legend.”
In 2020, Dapaah diversified his creative output by venturing into fitness with a show titled “Belly Must Go,” demonstrating his versatility and continuous evolution as an entertainer.
