Lava Virat V1 Series Launches in India Under $155

Lava Virat V1 has officially launched in India alongside the Lava Virat V1 5G, marking the debut of the company’s new Virat smartphone series aimed at younger consumers and online shoppers. Both devices are priced below INR 15,000 and will be available beginning July 31 through Flipkart and Lava’s official online store.

The new smartphones offer large displays, expandable storage, IP64-rated durability and Android software without pre-installed ads or bloatware. Buyers will also receive Lava’s free home service, adding after-sales support to the package.

Lava Virat V1 lineup targets the budget smartphone market

Lava introduced the Virat series as a new smartphone family focused on value-conscious buyers looking for modern features at affordable prices.

Leading the range is the Lava Virat V1 5G, which is powered by the Unisoc T8200 processor. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, expandable by up to 1TB using a dedicated microSD card.

The smartphone runs Android 16 with a clean software experience free from ads and unnecessary pre-installed applications. However, Lava has not announced how long the device will receive Android version upgrades or security updates.

Lava Virat V1 5G features a large battery and 120Hz display

The Virat V1 5G is equipped with a 6.75-inch HD+ display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering smoother scrolling and animations than conventional 60Hz panels.

A 5-megapixel front camera sits inside a waterdrop-style notch, while the rear camera system is led by a 13-megapixel primary sensor.

Power comes from a 6,000mAh battery that supports charging through a USB-C port at speeds of up to 10W.

Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0, a dedicated microSD card slot and an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.

The smartphone will be available in Arya Blue and Sonar Gold.

Lava has priced the Virat V1 5G at INR 12,999. As part of its launch promotion, the handset will sell for INR 11,999 on the first day of availability.

Lava Virat V1 offers a lower-cost alternative

The standard Lava Virat V1 targets buyers seeking an even lower entry price while retaining many of the same design elements.

Unlike its 5G counterpart, the Virat V1 uses the Unisoc SC9863A processor and ships with Android 15 Go Edition. Lava said the software remains free from advertisements and bloatware.

The smartphone includes the same 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration but supports microSD expansion up to 256GB instead of 1TB.

Its 6.75-inch HD+ display maintains the same screen size but operates at a 90Hz refresh rate.

The rear camera system again features a 13-megapixel primary sensor, while selfies are handled by a 5-megapixel front camera housed in a waterdrop notch.

Battery, connectivity and design differences

Battery capacity is one of the key distinctions between the two models.

The Lava Virat V1 includes a 5,000mAh battery with 10W USB-C charging, compared with the larger 6,000mAh battery found in the Virat V1 5G.

Connectivity also differs. The 4G model supports Bluetooth 4.2, while the 5G version upgrades to Bluetooth 5.0.

Despite these differences, both smartphones offer several shared features, including a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB-C charging, a dedicated microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IP64 rating.

The Virat V1 is available in Nilgiri Blue and Himalayan Silver.

Pricing and availability

Both smartphones will go on sale in India on July 31 through Flipkart and Lava’s official website.

Pricing is as follows:

  • Lava Virat V1: INR 9,999, with a first-day introductory price of INR 8,999.
  • Lava Virat V1 5G: INR 12,999, with a first-day introductory price of INR 11,999.

Every purchase also includes Lava’s complimentary home service, providing customers with additional after-sales support.

What to watch

The launch of the Lava Virat V1 series strengthens competition in India’s highly competitive entry-level smartphone market, where brands continue to focus on battery life, high-refresh-rate displays and clean Android software. Market attention will now turn to consumer demand and whether Lava expands the Virat lineup with additional models in the coming months.
