Kanye West has officially been banned from entering Australia after the government cancelled his tourist visa following the release of an anti-Semitic song referencing Adolf Hitler.
The decision means the rapper — who legally changed his name to Ye — is prohibited from entering the country with his Australian-born wife Bianca Censori, who grew up in Melbourne. She recently visited Australia alone during the summer, while Ye stayed in Japan amid reports of marital tensions.
According to government sources, Ye had successfully obtained a tourist visa valid for up to 12 months, but it has since been revoked. The ban was confirmed by Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke, who said the final decision was made after Ye released a track titled Heil Hitler in May.
“He’s been coming to Australia for a long time and he’s made a lot of offensive comments,” Burke said. “But my officials looked at it again once he released the Heil Hitler song and he no longer has a valid visa in Australia.”
The 48-year-old artist, once one of the world’s most celebrated musicians, has been at the centre of repeated controversies in recent years, many tied to inflammatory remarks and behaviour. The latest ban is particularly significant given his ties to Australia through Bianca Censori.
Ye, formerly married to Kim Kardashian, shares four children with her: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. The visa cancellation not only bars him from travelling with Censori to her home country but also underscores Australia’s zero-tolerance approach to individuals promoting hate speech.
