An Active Cell is the currently selected cell in a spreadsheet application, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, where data entry or editing will occur. It is visually distinguished by a bold or highlighted border, and its reference (like A1 or B3) appears in the formula bar. Only one cell can be active at a time, and users can change the active cell by clicking or using arrow keys. The active cell is essential for entering formulas, formatting, and navigating data within a spreadsheet.
