Meizu, owned by Geely, may be leaving the smartphone industry to concentrate on artificial intelligence, but it still has at least one more model to release before it retires. The Meizu 21 Pro has now been officially released, with an improved screen, a telephoto lens, and a larger battery that supports wireless charging.
Let’s begin at the front. A 6.79-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,368 x 3,192 pixels (21:9) and a maximum brightness of 1,250 nits is featured on the Meizu 21 Pro. With a refresh rate of 1-120Hz, its LTPO panel is comparable to the plain 21, which features a 6.55″ FHD+ 19.5:9 display. It is the same 32MP selfie camera.
A Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 12GB of RAM as standard (up from 8GB) and a 16GB variant is located behind the glass. Additionally, storage is available in 256GB, 512GB, and even 1TB sizes.
Around back, the 200MP camera has been replaced with a 50MP primary camera. There is a 72mm (3x) telephoto module with a 10MP sensor (and up to 30x digital zoom) to make up for the lack of depth. The 13MP 122° (15mm) extremely wide camera remains the same. The primary camera has OIS and EIS stabilization, an 8K video recording capability, and a ToF depth sensor to enhance focusing.
In addition to 80W wired charging, the 5,050mAh battery enables 50W wireless charging and has a greater capacity of 250mAh.
Preorders for the Meizu 21 Pro are currently being accepted in China through the company’s web shop; open sales are scheduled to begin on March 2. Pricing for the entry-level 12/256GB variant is CNY 5,000 ($700/€640/₹57,500). The 16GB/1TB model, which is the top of the range, costs CNY 5,900, while the 16/512GB variant costs CNY 400 extra.
There are four colors available: one with a leatherette back (Green) and three with a glass back (Black, White, and Blue). It should be noted that the vanilla model only has an IP54 rating, whereas the Pro is certified IP68.
