It’s time to showcase the Galaxy Z Flip6 design after the initial speculative renderings of the device appeared online yesterday. And wait till you see the Flip if you thought the Fold and its predecessor looked too similar.
Samsung’s clamshell foldable saw significant improvements last year, including a bigger cover display and a stronger hinge. It appears that rather than making more significant adjustments, the last year has been devoted to improving the design.
When unfurled, the Z Flip6 is said to measure 165.0 x 71.7 x 7.4 mm. In contrast, the Z Flip5 measures 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm. We can only presume that the additional thickness is due to a larger battery, as reported by some publications putting it at 4,000mAh (+300mAh over last year’s model), given that Samsung has already achieved a tightly-closing design.
Since there will be more space for the flex hinge and less strain on the display when folded, the additional thickness may also aid in lessening the crease. The Ironflex brand may be used to sell these or other enhancements.
Regarding the inside display, it appears that its diagonal measurement of 6.7″ will remain the same. Although there have been claims that the cover display would increase to 3.9″, that is not the case with this design and these dimensions. The cover display is also remaining at 3.4″ with a twin camera configuration intruding on its space. It has long been anticipated that the primary camera will use a 50MP sensor, an improvement above the 12MP sensor found on earlier Flips. There is currently no information on modifications to the ultra wide module or the telephoto lens (although the primary camera does have some in-sensor zoom).Let’s talk a little bit about the colors last. The static graphics display the color mint, while the video showcases the Z Flip6 in a lavender hue. While not quite the same as the same colors on the Z Flip5, both are comparable.
As is customary, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 will probably be unveiled in August. This year, each family could have two models rather than just one: the more expensive Z6 Fold Ultra and the less expensive Z Flip6 FE.
