In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 59-year-old man from Kitengela, Kajiado County, shocked residents by fatally stabbing his stepdaughter before taking his own life.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, May 5, left the community reeling and was reportedly fueled by marital strife between the man and his estranged wife.
According to reports, the man attacked the 16-year-old girl with a kitchen knife when she entered the house to retrieve a phone, prompting neighbors to intervene upon hearing her distressing screams.
Tragically, their efforts to save the girl were in vain, and both she and the man were found dead by police who responded to the scene following neighbors’ alerts.
A suicide note left behind by the man revealed his motive, citing revenge against his estranged wife for perceived betrayals and infidelity. The note expressed bitterness and resentment, accusing the wife of disregarding him and causing him years of anguish.
The police examination of the scene revealed multiple stab wounds on the girl’s body, along with defensive injuries indicating a struggle. Similarly, the man was found with stab wounds on his abdomen.
Both bodies were transported to the morgue for further examination as law enforcement launched investigations into the tragic incident.
