Deloitte Place Westlands Nairobi Kenya

Kenya’s financial sector continues to expand, and accounting firms in Kenya are playing a central role in supporting businesses, government agencies, and nonprofits. These firms provide essential services such as auditing, tax advisory, forensic accounting, business consulting, and compliance. Regulated by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), these firms ensure that both local and international clients maintain financial transparency and compliance with national laws.

PwC Kenya is one of the Big Four firms operating in Kenya. It has a strong presence in Nairobi and Mombasa, offering tax compliance, audit, assurance, and business advisory services. Its clientele includes major corporations and government bodies.

Deloitte East Africa, another Big Four powerhouse, operates in Kenya under Deloitte & Touche LLP. It is known for its risk advisory, actuarial services, and consulting expertise, supporting clients in sectors such as healthcare, energy, and manufacturing.

KPMG East Africa, headquartered in Nairobi, provides integrated services that span financial audit, technology consulting, and sustainability. KPMG’s regional structure allows it to serve clients across Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda from its Nairobi office.

Ernst & Young (EY) brings its global expertise to Kenya with services in assurance, transactions, and tax. Its Kenyan office is part of the broader EY Africa network, which delivers support for mergers, valuations, and financial reporting compliance.

Beyond the Big Four, mid-tier and locally-owned firms have carved out a niche in Kenya’s competitive landscape. BDO East Africa, for instance, supports medium and large businesses with audit and advisory services, including IFRS implementation and corporate restructuring.

PKF Eastern Africa is another notable name. Headquartered in Westlands, Nairobi, the firm offers industry-specific solutions tailored to sectors such as hospitality, construction, and manufacturing. PKF is also heavily involved in training and capacity-building for finance professionals.

Grant Thornton Kenya, operating under Grant Thornton Advisory East Africa, serves small to mid-sized enterprises with outsourced accounting, transfer pricing, and forensic audits. It is well-regarded for its agility and sector specialization.

Firms like RSM Eastern Africa and Crowe Erastus & Co. bring international networks into the Kenyan market while offering personalized client engagement. Their areas of strength include fraud investigation, risk analysis, and NGO audits.

Forvis Mazars Kenya focuses on compliance and outsourcing for foreign investors and companies operating in multiple jurisdictions. Meanwhile, HLB Kenya supports corporate clients through internal audit, governance, and performance improvement reviews.

Optima CPA, Patrick & Associates, and Chartafai LLP are among the emerging firms making a mark with their client-centric approaches and affordable services, especially for startups and SMEs looking for tax compliance and accurate bookkeeping.

Newer players like Hisibati Consulting and Pedo and Associates are also gaining recognition by specializing in niche areas such as cloud accounting, digital audit readiness, and sustainability reporting—services that are becoming more relevant in the post-COVID business landscape.

All these firms are governed by the standards set by ICPAK, ensuring that Kenya’s accounting profession remains globally competitive, transparent, and ethical.
