Think Twice Second-Hand Clothes, commonly referred to as T2, has become a household name among Kenyans seeking affordable and high-quality second-hand clothing. Known for offering products at prices as low as Ksh30, Think Twice stores are popular across the country, serving individuals from all walks of life.
Ownership and History
Think Twice operates under Baltic Textile Trading Limited in Kenya. Established in 2014, the company has grown to employ over 300 Kenyans. Its origins trace back to Lithuania, where it operates as Humana People to People Baltic (Humana Baltic).
The first Humana second-hand shop and sorting center opened in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 1998. The idea was to create a sustainable fundraising model by reusing second-hand clothes. This model allowed people to buy affordable, quality clothing while using profits to support global development projects.
Today, Humana operates in 13 countries, including Kenya, Germany, Uganda, Lithuania, Oman, Togo, Turkey, Estonia, Hungary, Belgium, Georgia, and Ukraine. As of December 2022, Humana had more than 272 retail shops, four sorting centers, and employed 3,400 people worldwide.
Profits for a Noble Cause
The profits generated from Think Twice and other Humana branches are directed toward development projects aimed at alleviating poverty, sickness, and lack of freedom.
- In 2022, Humana donated €3.5 million to development initiatives.
- Additionally, Humana Baltic contributed over €4.97 million to projects in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Lithuania.
