Samsung One UI Home Appliances are here, marking a major step in unifying Samsung’s ecosystem. The company announced that its familiar One UI software, seen on smartphones and tablets, is now coming to smart devices such as refrigerators and washing machines. This move mirrors Huawei’s approach with HarmonyOS and brings a consistent, connected user experience across platforms.
Samsung promises 7 years of software updates for all Wi-Fi-enabled appliances launched in 2024. This ensures long-term security and performance for products like washing machines, refrigerators, and other connected devices. With SmartThings integration, users will gain better connectivity between devices, creating a more seamless smart home experience.
Core apps such as Bixby, Gallery, and Samsung TV Plus are being integrated into appliances. For example, refrigerators equipped with Family Hub screens can display recipes, daily weather, and even family schedules. Washing machines with compatible 7-inch displays can show status updates directly on the appliance, while connected devices will communicate with each other for greater efficiency.
A new feature called Now Brief, first introduced in One UI 7, will deliver personalized information. Families can see useful updates like when the washing cycle ends, or view tailored recipes and weather forecasts right on their fridge door.
Refrigerators with AI Vision Inside can recognize commonly used packaged goods and fresh foods, simplifying kitchen management. Meanwhile, Bixby with Voice ID allows personalized interactions, distinguishing between different family members.
Samsung is also expanding Samsung TV Plus to markets such as Canada, Brazil, and India, while enhancing security through Knox Security and a blockchain-powered system called Trust Chain. This ensures that Wi-Fi-enabled appliances monitor each other for potential breaches, creating a secure smart home ecosystem.
With Samsung One UI Home Appliances, everyday products become more intelligent, connected, and secure. This expansion redefines what users can expect from household devices, combining the convenience of mobile software with the power of AI-driven smart living.
