Safarilink Aviation will begin operating Safarilink Nairobi Entebbe flights as a new non-stop service from May 1, 2026, offering direct connections between Kenya and Uganda. The airline confirmed that the route will run alongside its existing Nairobi–Kisumu–Entebbe service, giving passengers an option to reduce travel time significantly.
The direct service is expected to cut flight time to approximately 75 minutes, compared with up to three and a half hours for the current multi-stop route via Kisumu. The move signals a strategic expansion into regional connectivity beyond Safarilink’s traditional domestic operations.
Safarilink Nairobi Entebbe flights cut travel time
The introduction of Safarilink Nairobi Entebbe flights is aimed at improving efficiency for business and leisure travellers. A non-stop connection allows same-day return trips, particularly for corporate passengers traveling between Nairobi and Kampala.
Flight listings indicate that the airline plans to operate six non-stop flights per week between Nairobi and Entebbe, with services scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Departures will operate from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Existing Kisumu route remains operational
Safarilink confirmed it will maintain its twice-daily Nairobi–Kisumu–Entebbe service. This route, launched in December 2025, was designed to connect Western Kenya with Uganda’s capital.
The schedule includes a morning rotation departing Wilson Airport at 0800, arriving in Kisumu at 0845, and continuing to Entebbe at 0945 before landing at 1030. The return leg departs Entebbe at 1115 and arrives back in Nairobi at 1330.
Strategic shift toward regional network
The expansion of Safarilink Nairobi Entebbe flights reflects a broader shift in the airline’s strategy. Traditionally known for safari routes to destinations such as Maasai Mara and Amboseli, Safarilink is now positioning itself as a regional carrier within the East African Community.
The airline has also increased its Nairobi–Arusha frequency, signaling a move toward cross-border routes beyond its core tourism operations.
Competitive aviation corridor
The Nairobi–Entebbe route is among the busiest in East Africa. Kenya Airways operates multiple daily non-stop flights, while Uganda Airlines also maintains a strong presence on the route.
Other carriers, including RwandAir, Ethiopian Airlines, and Qatar Airways, offer one-stop connections. Safarilink is expected to compete on convenience, pricing, and regional connectivity through Wilson Airport.
Impact on business and tourism travel
For business travellers, the new Safarilink Nairobi Entebbe flights provide a faster option that supports day trips between Nairobi and Kampala. This could reduce the need for overnight stays and lower travel costs.
For tourism, the route offers easier access to Uganda’s attractions, including Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Kibale National Park, and Murchison Falls. Shorter travel times may make weekend trips more feasible for Kenyan travellers.
Outlook for route performance
Safarilink’s entry into the Nairobi–Entebbe corridor marks a significant step in its regional expansion. However, sustaining the route will depend on passenger demand and the airline’s ability to compete with established carriers.
If successful, the airline may increase flight frequencies and expand further within the region. Industry observers note that ongoing liberalisation within the East African Community could open additional routes in the future.
The launch of Safarilink Nairobi Entebbe flights highlights evolving competition and growing connectivity in East Africa’s aviation sector.
