Yesterday, a Qatar Airways flight completed a turbulent journey, landing safely at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) from Doha via Kilimanjaro. The flight encountered severe weather conditions over Somalia, leading to significant internal damage to the aircraft.
Photos from the incident show extensive damage to the cabin, including torn overhead compartments and exposed wiring. The turbulence was strong enough to dislodge internal panels and damage the lighting system within the aircraft, creating a chaotic scene captured in the images.
Due to the severity of the turbulence, at least one passenger was injured and required immediate medical attention. The injured passenger was transferred to a hospital in Nairobi for treatment.
Authorities are investigating the incident to better understand the circumstances and assess the aircraft’s response to the severe weather conditions encountered during the flight.
