The foldable smartphone race is heating up in 2026, with Oppo joining the competition alongside Apple and Samsung. Although Oppo was initially only expected to release the Oppo Find N6 in 2026, a new report reveals that the company will also launch the Oppo Find N7, making it a direct competitor to Apple’s iPhone Fold, which is also expected to debut later this year.
A New Competitor for the iPhone Fold
The Oppo Find N7 is rumored to launch in September 2026, during the same window as the iPhone Fold. What makes the Find N7 particularly interesting is that it features a wide book-style foldable design similar to what has been seen in leaks of Apple’s first foldable device. This design choice, combined with Oppo’s impressive upgrades, positions the Find N7 as a serious contender in the foldable market.
Specifications and Upgrades
The Oppo Find N6, which will precede the N7, is already turning heads with its specs, including an 8.12-inch 2K LTPO OLED inner display and a 6.62-inch AMOLED cover screen. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC and is expected to come with 16 GB of RAM, providing a significant boost over its predecessor, the Find N5.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Oppo Find N7 is expected to pack a 200 MP primary camera, a 50 MP telephoto camera, and another 50 MP ultrawide sensor. These upgrades reflect Oppo’s continued commitment to improving its camera technology, with the Find N7 poised to offer excellent photography features.
Battery life is also set for an improvement, with a 6000 mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. While the Oppo Find N7 is slightly heavier than competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (215g), it weighs 225g, which is relatively lightweight compared to other foldables, such as the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold (258g).
Global Release and More Options for 2026
Oppo plans to release the Find N6 in China by February 2026, with a global release in March. As the year progresses, foldable devices are set to dominate the market, with Apple’s iPhone Fold and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 also expected to launch around the same time.
With Oppo Find N7, Apple iPhone Fold, and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, 2026 promises to be a significant year for foldable smartphones. While foldables may not yet be the daily driver for all users, they offer exciting possibilities for those looking for innovative smartphone designs and powerful features.
