On 11th January 2010 , Wizkid , by then still a struggling upcoming artist sent a DM to Nigerian rapper MI -Abaga seeking for his attention and begging if he could allow him to have a collaborative project with him at least to boost his career • The message, which has since become the most shared ‘inspirational’ screenshot in Nigeria was sent at exactly 8:17 PM •
In the message, Wizkid stated that he was an upcoming artist and had met MI at a show in Lagos that weekend where he curtain raised and briefly talked to him • He went ahead to ask MI if he could remember him and if there was a possibility of him even appearing in one of his videos • MI read the message but chose not to reply just like most celebrities would do •
Five years later, God changed ‘Star Boy’s ‘ story • MI was on a Europe tour and after realizing how the West were in love with Wizkid , he desperately wanted a collabo with him • He decided to send him a DM asking if they could do something when he lands in Nigeria and that is when MI realized the same Wizkid sent him a DM five years ago begging for a collabo and he ‘snubbed’ him • Today , Wizkid is the most sought for artist in Africa for a collabo and the third richest African artist with a net worth of Ksh 4.8 Billion according to African Insights Magazine
