Paying Your Electricity Bill:
M-Pesa (Postpay):
- Select “Pay Bill” from the M-Pesa menu.
- Enter the business number: 888888.
- Enter your Kenya Power account number (e.g., 123456-01).
- Enter the amount to pay (Shs. 100 to 35,000).
- Enter your M-Pesa PIN and confirm the details.
- You will receive an SMS confirmation.
It takes up to 48 hours for your payment to reflect.
Airtel Money (Postpay & Prepay):
- Select “Airtel Money” from the menu.
- Choose “Make Payments” and select “Paybill.”
- For postpaid bills, select “Kenya Power Bill,” and for prepaid tokens, select “Kenya Power Prepaid.”
- Enter your account number and the amount to pay.
- Enter your Airtel Money PIN and confirm.
- You will receive an SMS confirmation.
It takes up to 24 hours for your payment to reflect.
Buying KPLC Tokens:
M-Pesa (Prepay):
- Go to the M-Pesa menu and select “Pay Bill.”
- Enter the prepaid business number: 888880.
- Enter the 11-digit prepayment meter number.
- Enter the amount (Shs. 250 to 35,000).
- Enter your M-Pesa PIN and confirm the details.
- You will receive an SMS confirmation.
Airtel Money (Prepay):
- Go to the Airtel menu and choose “Money.”
- Select “Nickname” and enter “MYPOWER.”
- Enter the amount.
- Confirm the transaction and enter your 4-digit password.
- Enter your full 11-digit meter number under the “Reference” option.
- You will receive an SMS confirmation.
Checking Your Bill:
E-Bill SMS Service:
- Open a new SMS message.
- Type the first part of your account number (e.g., 123456).
- Send the message to 95551.
- You will receive an automatic reply with your account balance and due date.
E-Bill Email Service:
- Open a new email message.
- Type the first part of your account number in the subject line.
- Send the blank email to [email protected].
- You will receive a response with your balance and due date.
