Karatina University is a public university located in the town of Karatina, central Kenya. It was initially founded in 2007 as a Moi University campus for central Kenya and later upgraded to a constituent college of Moi University in 2010. In 2013, it gained full university status.
History
The university started as the Moi University Central Kenya Campus with an initial intake of 100 students. It was renamed Karatina University College in 2010 and became Karatina University in 2013.
Campus
The main campus is located at Kagochi, about 15 km from Karatina town. Additional campuses are in Nanyuki and Itiati, the latter housing the School of Education and Social Sciences. The Vice Chancellor is Prof. Mucai Muchiri.
