Sub-QCIF (Sub–Quarter Common Intermediate Format) is a low-resolution video format with a typical display resolution of 128 × 96 pixels. It is even smaller than QCIF (176 × 144) and was primarily used in early mobile phones, video conferencing, and multimedia messaging systems (MMS) where bandwidth and storage were highly limited. Due to its minimal pixel count, Sub-QCIF supports only basic video display and is largely obsolete today, replaced by higher-resolution formats as mobile technology and network speeds have advanced.
