Emoji are small digital icons or images used to express emotions, ideas, objects, or symbols in electronic communication. Originating from Japan, the word “emoji” combines “e” (picture) and “moji” (character). Emojis are widely used in text messages, social media, emails, and chats to add tone, emotion, or visual context to written communication. They include a vast range of categories, such as facial expressions, animals, food, weather, activities, and flags. Standardized by Unicode, emojis can be displayed across different platforms and devices, though visual style may vary slightly between operating systems like iOS, Android, or Windows.
