  • Soil: Rich in organic matter with a pH of 6.0-6.5. Well-drained soil is essential.
  • Rainfall: Well-distributed annual rainfall of about 500mm.
  • Altitude: Thrives at altitudes between 700-2,200m above sea level.

    • Apply 75kg of DAP fertilizer per acre at planting.
    • Incorporate farmyard manure for additional nutrients.

  • Timing: Weed early to minimize competition for nutrients and ensure optimal growth.
  • Methods: Manual weeding or shallow cultivation can be practiced.
