History of Baringo High School
Baringo High School was founded in August 1965 as a day Harambee school under the sponsorship of the African Inland Mission (A.I.M), now known as African Inland Church (A.I.C). Initially, it started with 40 students, including 10 girls and 30 boys.
In 1965, the school was re-located to its current site, a 33.38-hectare piece of land generously donated by the local community. It initially served as a mixed secondary school, offering education to both boys and girls.
In 1980, the school was officially taken over by the government, and in 1996, it was re-registered as a four-stream mixed school with a maximum population of 640 students. Over time, the school evolved, and in 2006, it was converted into a boys-only school under the District Education Board of Koibatek, with a student population of 550.
The school’s facilities have expanded over the years, including the construction of an administration complex and Nyayo Dormitory, which were funded by the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, a patron of the school.
