When users jumped onto Meta’s social media platforms on Tuesday morning, they saw an unfavorable notice: issue warnings. Are you unable to access Instagram or Facebook? You’re not by yourself.
According to DownDetector, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads—all owned by Meta—went down on Tuesday just after nine in the morning CT.
Facebook users who were using mobile devices saw a pop-up that said, “Session expired; please log in again.” Users reported receiving a message that stated, “Unable to log in,” when they tapped on the message, which led them to the log-in screen. There was an unforeseen mistake. Kindly attempt to log in once again. Facebook users were incorrectly informed that their passwords were incorrect when they attempted to check in using a web browser.
Those attempting to log onto Facebook Messenger experienced the same issue.
While most information is still accessible on Instagram, individuals are notifying themselves on their timelines that the feed is not updating. An alert similar to the one below shows up while attempting to visit Instagram online:

Threads, the newest app from Meta, also experienced issues loading.
What is causing the outage is unknown at this time.
