Aoxin electric vehicles are a unique part of China’s rapidly growing EV industry. Founded in 2006 as Jiangsu Aoxin New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd., the company specializes in neighborhood and low-speed EVs designed for practical use in cities and industrial applications. With exports to the United States, New Zealand, Spain, Germany, and Italy, Aoxin has gradually built a niche in affordable and lightweight electric mobility.
History and Development
Aoxin began as a small EV startup in Jiangsu Province, with a mission to design light-weight, efficient, and cost-effective electric cars. Its early focus was on low-speed commercial and passenger vehicles for short-distance commuting and cargo transport.
The company produced its first Star truck in 2009, which quickly became popular in overseas courier and cargo markets due to its practicality and low operating cost. That same year, Aoxin developed the AEV1, a five-door hatchback, and later introduced the eGo compact EV in 2011.
By 2014, Aoxin expanded into larger vehicles with the IBIS sedan, also known as the E45 or Heying, built with carbon fiber and an aluminum frame. This marked the company’s transition from small urban EVs to more advanced passenger cars.
In 2019, Aoxin launched the X30L electric van, followed by a series of specialized vehicles including street sweepers, dump trucks, and advertising vans.
Manufacturing and Facilities
Aoxin operates a 2.21 km² production base in Jiangsu. The site includes a test track and capacity to produce:
- 200,000 sets of automotive composite materials annually
- 30,000 extenders (fuel extender, gas turbine, fuel cell)
The factory supports both passenger EVs and a wide range of electric service vehicles, often co-developed with Dafudi, a partner manufacturer.
