Kenya’s Taita-Taveta County has the town of Wundanyi. The counties’ other major cities include Voi, Taveta, and Mwatate.
About 17 kilometers (11 miles) to the north of Mwatate, where the county seat is situated, is Wundanyi. The major town in the county, Voi, is located roughly 40 kilometers (25 mi) to the west of this. Wundanyi is located approximately 195 kilometers (121 miles) northwest of Mombasa port, which is the closest major city. This is situated approximately 368 kilometers (229 miles) southeast of Nairobi, Kenya’s capital and largest city. Wundanyi’s coordinates are 03°23’54.0″S. 38°21’37.9″E (longitude: 38.360526, latitude: −3.398329).
The village is a well-liked starting point for hikers, and nearby sights include the Cave of Skulls, Wesu Rock, and the butterfly-rich Ngangao Forest. The official site of the Taita’s execution was Shomoto Hill, which is located across the valley from Wundanyi. Wundanyi sits in the middle of an agricultural region, with heavily terraced slopes all around it.
Taita-Taveta County had a population of 284,657 in 2011. Wundayi town’s population was expected to be 62,340 as of May 2015, accounting for 21.9 percent of the county’s total population.
