Qatar has long been recognized as one of the most generous employers both regionally and globally, and recent data provides concrete evidence of this. Qatar tops list of Arab countries in average wages, ranks sixth in world.

According to data provided by Numbeo, an online database statistics website, Qatar has topped the list of Arab nations in terms of average wages and was ranked sixth worldwide.

Another 12 Arab nations also made the top 100 list of countries where employees enjoy the highest average monthly pay after tax deductions.

Qatar and the UAE finished among the top 10 ranked nations, with the former coming in sixth with an average salary of $4,130.45. The UAE was seventh with $3,581.87.

While Switzerland came first in the list with an average take-home salary of $6,186.01, Luxembourg was second ($5,180.70), ahead of Singapore ($5,032.35), USA ($4,658.96) and Iceland ($4,259.03).

Denmark finished eighth with an average salary of $3,539.42 while The Netherlands ranked ninth ($3,521.84). Australia rounded off the top 10 list with an average salary of $3,362.47.

While Qatar and the UAE topped the list of Arab countries with the highest average monthly salary, Kuwait finished third with an overall world ranking of 22 ($2,526.41). They were followed by Oman (27th place globally, $2,220.83), Saudi Arabia (28th, $2,040.53), Palestine (59th, $640.80), Jordan (61st, $627.48), Iraq (68th, $538.74), Morocco (80th, $396.75), Libya (90th, $306.3), Tunisia (91st, $298.68), Algeria (93rd, $268.91) and Egypt (99th, $148.1).

Some of the other prominent nations featured in the list were South Africa (40th, $1,202.24), India (63rd, $584.08), Kenya (84th, $371.72), The Philippines (89th, $310.15), Bangladesh (94th, $256.96), Nepal (95th, $209.35), Sri Lanka (96th, $197.96), Pakistan (98th, $161.00) and Egypt (99th, $148.1).

This is not the first recognition that has come Qatar’s way. The country was recently ranked as the most peaceful country in the entire Middle East and North Africa region in the 17th edition of the Global Peace Index 2023. This position has remained unchanged since 2008.

Earlier this year, Qatar jumped three spots to improve its global ranking to 21 in Kearney’s 2023 Foreign Direct Investment Confidence Index. Thanks to the 2022 FIFA World Cup boosting investor interest, the country also finished second in the regional table.

According to Transparency International’s 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index, Qatar scored 58 points out of a possible 100 to rank as the 40th least corrupt nation in the world. It also maintained its position as the second least corrupt Arab nation on the index behind the UAE.

Qatar continued to add more feathers to its cap as the nation was voted as the ‘world’s safest country’ for the fifth year in a row, as per the Numbeo Crime Index by Country 2023 report. Qatar, who topped the index in 2017, lost the title to Japan in 2018. But they regained the top spot in 2019 and have not looked back since then.

Doha had also been chosen as the 27th Best City in the world to live, work, visit and invest in by Resonance Consultancy — a leading global advisor on placemaking, branding and marketing for the world’s best cities and destinations.
